Thanks to its breathtaking natural beauty, Rám Gorge is rightly one of the region's best-known excursion destinations, visited by many not only from the area but from all over the country. The gorge itself is a volcanic, roughly north–south running ravine. Its narrowing rock walls are sometimes vertical, and some even lean inward. Its depth exceeds 35 metres in places, while its width is at times less than 3 metres. Water constantly trickles along the rocky bed, swelling into a stream during snowmelt and heavy rain. Hikers must overcome a total elevation difference of 112 metres in the gorge. Forest rest areas welcome visitors at the lower and upper entrances. Due to its natural conditions, Rám Gorge is one of the most difficult marked hiking trails in Hungary.

Hungary's most popular lookout is the tower atop Prédikálószék, rising above the Danube Bend; from its upper level a spectacular panorama opens onto the river's great curve. Several marked trails lead to this iconic, 639-metre peak of the Visegrád Hills from all directions — the most spectacular and also most difficult being the steep climb past the Vadálló Stones, while the easiest is clearly the Red Square marked footpath starting near the Királykunyhó hunting lodge, off the road between Pilisszentlászló and Visegrád.
